Old Business (Unresolved issues from previous meetings)

(1)   Unpaid membership dues. – Will remain a member for 2007 – 2008 season, but will have no voting rights.

New Business –   (carried over from February agenda)

(1)    OKC (NSRA) Trip…

a.      Who’s going? – Dale, Jeff, Dennis, John & Linda.

b.      Leave time and place.4/4/08  - Leave 7:30am (Andover Exit I-35) Gather at Hope Church Parking Lot – 21st St,  next to I-35 Entrance Ramp.

(2)   Let’s Talk “Club”.

a.      Do we really need dues? – This issue will be up for vote at June Meeting… Do we continue with current due structure, or do we adopt a pay-as-we go club?

b.      Should the Club apply for a “Not for Profit” status? – Not unless the club grows to the point of conducting it’s own car shows or paid events.

(3)   Goals? Set a couple of goals for the club? Maybe helping a local charity. – General consensus among members was to help members get their projects on the road.

(4)   Could the club hold it’s monthly meeting at a café or restaurant, conduct the meeting and then have a (you pay for it) meal afterward? Again…no club money. – Will began with a meeting Road Run to Cottonwood Falls, KS on 4/19/08.  – Will assemble and leave at 9 AM  from the WalMart Parking lot in Eldorado.  Will conduct meeting at Emma Chase Café. Note: Members will decide where the next meeting (5/17/08) will take place.

(5)   Monthly “Run for Fun”  - Post a listing of various places where we could eat or visit (sight see) within a days drive. Maybe on the 2nd and 4th Saturday of each month. Drive your Street Rod and bring your spouse (Let’s get the girls involved)… PS…You pay your own way - no club money will be utilized. Those who show are the ones that will enjoy the fun, and make memories. – Received mixed comments – Some members indicated that upcoming car shows would most likely interfere , while others did not want to get the girls involved.   – Will table this issue for future discussion..

(6)   Liability? Is the Club liable if someone is injured or something is damaged during our get together for club meetings or during outing’s? (Do we need to talk to a Lawyer? Does any member have a friend that is a lawyer?). -  The members discussed  the issue and the consensus was that we should inform members of the risk while in the shop, and have them sign a injury release waiver for themselves or their vehicle while in the shop.

(7)   Suggest that a steering committee be formed to help oversee and guide the club for growth to at least 25 members (not including spouses). – The Club Guidelines are currently set at a maximum of 20 members. Unless this is changed through a membership vote, the club will not need a steering committee.

Open Discussion Session

-         Tom suggested to Jon that he (Jon) should make up a sheet to keep in the shop for members to sign, as to release him (Jon) of any Liability due to injury to a member or his vehicle while in the shop.

-         Dennis mentioned that while he was in Phoenix, that some of the car guys he spoke with indicated that most of the car clubs are excluding wives and girlfriends, because it generally turns into a social dining out affair.

-         John suggested that the club might think about purchasing a piece of equipment or special tools for the club. Any member could use the tools or equipment as needed, but would have to sign out for them. John indicated that a sign-out list would have to be maintained to keep track of the equipment or tools. The member using them would have the responsibility of upkeep, and could just hold on the item until some other  member needed it.

-         Buddy suggested that a tubing bender would be a nice addition.

-         John suggested that maybe a small sheet metal  shear/brake would be good.

-         John brought a flyer for the WichitaThunder Car & Bike Show  (3/22/08) for the members to see, as well as a Flyer for the “Spring Chickasha” Swap Meet.
