1940 Ford - Deluxe Coupe
Last Update: 01/04/2009
Jon added a 1940 Ford Deluxe Coupe to his list of projects.
I was informed that the 1940 Ford Coupe is one car that Jon had wanted for a very long time. It seems that a decent 1940 Ford is very collectible and is getting harder and harder to find. When Jon was presented with a chance to trade for the coupe, he didn't think twice about it.
The car has a new "Fat Man" chassis, a new "Bitchin" firewall and floor pans installed. The chassis was set up for a small block Ford, so Jon will be changing the setup to accept a small block Chevy. A new EMS "tailpan" (under the deck lid) was also replaced. The original rear fenders had been modified for early 60's Corvette tail lights.
Jon intends to replace all of the exterior stainless to give the car that nostalgic look.
There is still a lot of work to be done on this project.

Well after a complete inventory of parts, Jon found that there a a lot missing. He is in the process of putting his wish list together. On that list he will need to locate the interior garnish moldings, a better grille, and a hood. Jon has already purchased a small block Chevy crate engine for the project.
OCTOBER - DECEMBER 2007
The swap meet at Chickasha, OK proved to be good for Jon,, He found a decent hood which will need a minimal amount of repair, along with a better grille and side panels.
Pictures 10 through 13 show the hood and grille picked up at the Chickasha swap meet.
Pictures 13 & 14 show the hood getting a sanding to remove old rust and paint.
Jon had previously purchased a new fiberglass hood, only to discover that it needed the support brackets from a metal hood. Jon will most likely put the fiberglass hood up for sale. Jon also purchased a super nice set of wide fiberglass fenders for the rear, so the metal units that are set up for mid-fifty ('58-'59) Corvette taillights will most likely go on the sale block as well.

19 - Here's a shot of the steering column with the neat home made (in shop fabrication) column drop mount.
20 - Front view of car with lift lowered.
21 - Rear/top view shot taken from stair well in shop. Rear fenders sure look good.
