Dale Metsker Augusta, KS 1927 Ford Model T 2-Dr Sedan
|
|
Starting with a nice original car shown above, Dale decided to build a Street Rod !
Dale first dismantled the old sedan. He then beefed up the frame and added a 80 Mercury Bobcat IFS suspension and R&R steering up front. He also added a coil spring setup out of a 1979 Oldsmobile for the rear. For steering, Dale added a '87 Chevrolet Pick-up column.
Click on the small pictures blow to see an enlarged version !
1. Just like working on a bike. Dale used a boxed Model A Frame. Flip it up and weld grind, cut, etc.. The frame had to be stretched to accommodate the Camaro 350 Engine and 350 Turbo-Hydro Transmission.
2. Here's a shot of the Olds suspension, cut and fabricated to fit the narrow model "A" Rails
3. This shot shows the Bobcat IFS w/rack & pinion steering installed
4. The rear wheel-wells had to have a little fabrication done.
5. The body was then placed on a trailer to send off to the sand blaster.
6. Dale installed a door on the rear panel for the gas fill neck.
7. The rear fenders were widened to handle the wider rear end and tire setup. Dale sliced them down the middle and added a section in between.
8. Here's a show of the Bobcat suspension under the drivers front fender.
9. Bodywork ..bodywork...bodywork...bodywork !!.
10. Dale finished out the panels over the rear suspension inside the car
11. Looking n through the back window.
12. Here we see the cross-members for the engine mount and the transmission mount.
13 through 15. Dale shot the "Atomic Orange" color on the body . Note: the dual four 400 CFM Holley's setting atop a Weiand Tunnel Ram intake.
16.The fenders were sprayed "Charcoal Grey" with a little "Atomic Orange Metallic" mixed in for a little different tone.
17. Hanging around the shop drying are many of the missing parts still to be assembled.
18. Here we see the finished front fender, waiting it's turn to be bolted back to the car.
19. Getting "almost together".. Runs really strong!!!
20. Here's the dash ! In and assembled with all gauges.
21. Placement for the air and heat...
