Bud's  Little Roadster Project

Here are a few pictures of my new project.

Below are a few pictures taken at Jon's shop. The guys had dug through the pile of sheet metal to see what if anything could be done to come up with a possible project.  After a spending a little time placing the sheet metal  on and around the frame, and using a little imagination, a " real project " began to take shape.

Well, it was reloaded on the trailer, and off to my shop it went..

NOW FOR THE PROJECT>>>>>>>>

Just click on the small pictures below to see an enlarged version.

Picture #1 is when everything was loaded on Jon's trailer. This is what Bud will start his project with....
Picture #2 is a shot when bud was trying to piece them together. Notice that the doors don't match the cowl that was attached to the frame.

After a lot of internet searching, Bud found out that the cowl that was attached to the frame was a 1931 Pontiac.

The other cowl (shown in picture #3 above), plus the rear quarters, trunk, and doors ( looks like truck doors because there is no revel at bottom) are all from a 1930 Chevrolet standard coupe.

1931 was the year that fisher made the cowl and windshield post all in one piece so 1931 was a one year only car.
Bud's going to try and make a 30 Chevrolet roadster out of all this mess.

Pictures 4 & 5 show some of the square tube bracing that was required to set the sheet metal in place.

Picture 6 show s the frame and body setting on a rolling dolly. This puts the project at a level that is easier to work on.

Picture 7 shows the bracing structure for the dash and door hinge areas.

Picture 8 shows a passenger side  frontal view of the project.

Picture 9 shows the drivers side door from the inside. Structural supports will be added to the inside of the doors later.

Picture 10 shows a donor chassis (39 Ford PU). The front axle, cross member and rear end will be used for the project.

Picture 11 - Oops forgot the camera...

Picture 12 - Bud used the hood panel off of a Chevy Van to fabricate a cover for the rear frame horns.

Picture 13 - Here is a shot showing the cowl area, as well as some of the bracing inside the body.

Picture 14 - I had to talk Bud into showing me what the car would look like with a '35 Chevy Grille.

15 - Here is shot of the rebuilt 1956 Chevy  235ci  that Bud had planned on putting in the project. He wanted to put in an automatic(350 or 700), but found that it would be too costly buying an adapter to go behind the 235ci.  He lucked out and found a low mileage '88 292 ci. He is now in the process of locating a split exhaust manifold, and maybe a multi-carb intake or even a four barrel setup.

16 - Here's a side shot of the project without the hood.

17 - Presenting the newly installed "Mr 292".  Bud had to build a recessed box, so the engine would set back into the cowl.

18. - Here is a picture of the firewall from the inside.

19 - After a lot of thought and a lot of work, Bud managed to build a nice looking windshield frame for the project.

20 - Mock-up with hood  and  '30 Chevrolet grille shell. She's really looking like a car now!!!!!
